DIY 'Jeweled' Earrings

Easy DIY jeweled earrings using viva decor pearl pens

Brightly colored jewels and rhinestones attached to clear acrylic has become super popular. This jewelry trend is actually very easy to do yourself. You CAN make your own faux jewels!

To get the look of real jewels, I enlisted the help of my Viva Decor Pearl Pens. Yep, I actually used these to create faux, vibrant looking stones. Pearl Pens are seriously AMAZING! Since the paint is thick, it has great dimension which was perfect for this project!

When I decided to do this project, I wasn't sure what I was going to use as my clear background. Then, it hit me! I knew we had some extra Paper Accents Clear Boxes in our craftroom. I grabbed these and they worked like a charm! Since these earring are made out of plastic and paint, they are super light-weight. They won't weigh your ears down!

Off the Page and onto a Pumpkin

When it comes to pumpkins, most people carve them. Some people actually enjoy digging into a pumpkin and getting their hands filled with all of the wet, gooey insides. If you are NOT one of these people, you will love this no carve pumpkin!

Inside Blitsy: Decorative Pillows Galore!

DIY Pillows are my new addiction

Happy Friday, Blitsy Crafters!
Let me introduce you to my new addiction. Tulip for your Home from iLoveToCreate might just be my favorite sale event at Blitsy today. They've made this DIY so EASY!

1. First, you need a pillow case. They come in 3 sizes (18x18, 16x16, and 12x16), and a variety of colors (White, Grey, Natural, and Burlap).

2. Then you choose your stencils. There are a variety of stencils from large backgrounds, to accent images, and letters for words and monograms. The great thing is you can use the stencils over and over again!

3. You lay the stencil on the pillowcase and roll or pounce over it with the Tulip Soft Fabric Paints. There are sooo many amazing colors to choose from! *note - you can use a spray adhesive to keep the stencil in place if you choose. Blitsy is unable to ship aerosol cans so we don't have any on hand, but it is not essential for completing your pillow.

Take a look at the pillows we made this week here at Blitsy! There are so many ways to mix and match the colors and stencils. Layering the stencils is really easy, too. You only have to wait a couple of minutes for the first layer to dry, then you can stencil right over it.

Here is even more inspiration. See how this could get addicting?

Don't miss the Tulip for the Home sale event at Blitsy today. We've got the best prices around! I'll like the products below for your convenience. Leave us a comment and let us know which pillows are inspiring you to create your own!

A "Cheery" Gift

When it comes to wedding showers and housewarming parties, I am always trying to give a unique gift outside of the "norm". When I saw we were selling the Decorating Your Life Vinyls, I knew these would be perfect to add to a towel. Just think how cute a decorative towel would be paired alongside wine glasses or kitchen gadgets!

Decorating Your Life Vinyls are PERFECT for adding that extra touch to a kitchen towel. The metallic gold sheen the 'Cheers' vinyl has makes it so sophisticated looking. With just a swipe of your iron, your towel is instantly transformed into a gift that now has way more punch. Oh, and you can also launder AND iron your Decorating Your Life Vinyls!

Evolution Advanced - Giveaway!

Before we get into the giveaway, I wanted to let you know that this will be available at Blitsy on Friday RIGHT NOW at the best price around!! $83.99 say what?! The lowest price we've seen it elsewhere is $107.99. This is HUGE!

We hinted to a big giveaway yesterday on our Facebook page and here it is! We are in love with the new and improved Evolution Advanced Die Cutting Machine and think every crafter should have one. Luckily, we've got one to give away!

The universal crafting platform for die-cutting, embossing, and letterpressing, just got even better. It’s still lightweight and works with most leading brand die-cuts and embossing folders. Now it’s easier to use with an attachable motor (sold separately) and a height adjustment gear system that automatically adjusts to fit each project. This means you no longer have to figure out which mat combinations are needed. The suction cup feet are perfect for no slip cranking and the easy fold up design and build in storage make it a perfect on-the-go tool. The Evolution Advanced kit includes a large 6x13” cutting and embossing platform, two mats, and a bonus Nesting Die (a $24.99 value). Oh yeah, we will also have it for an amazing prize at Blitsy this Friday today!

A Spooky Stitched Card

Halloween is still aways out, but I figured I would get started early on my Halloween cards. The main reason I created this card is because I REALLY wanted to use my Maya Road Baker's Twine. It's no secret that I love stitched paper, which is why I added a stitched 'Boo' to the front of my card.

This card is more cute than spooky (if I do say so myself!). I love that ripped pieces of paper can be turned into a mummy with a little help from Tim Holtz Distress Ink! Since the paper strips are all different, you can really see the texture of each strip by adding Distress Ink.

A New Use for Chicken Wire!

When I first saw the Paper Accents Wire Mesh run last year, my initial thought was to use it in a picture frame to organize earrings. This is what I saw ALL over Pinterest. I love this idea, but I wanted to see if there could be another crafty way to this metal product.

After staring at my wire mesh for quite some time, I found myself being drawn to the diamond shape the little honeycombs formed. So, I cut out this shape and placed it on my wrist. A light bulb when off! I was going to use my chicken wire to make a bracelet! Yep, this happened!

DIY Halloween Pinwheel Flowers

If you are having a Halloween party this year, you need these 'flowers' that won't die. Make them now and they will last until Halloween!

When I saw we were running the Frankie and Friends Collection from Simple Stories, I was ALL over it! Man, this collection is too cute for words! I wanted to use as many elements as I could since I knew I would not be able to choose just one. I ended up making these double layered pinwheel flowers using the Frankie and Friends papers. I topped them with elements from this collection and could not be happier with how my pinwheel flowers turned out!

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's...

... Super _________ (insert your child's name here)!

Super heroes are very popular with kids these days. I mean, we all wanted to be a super hero at some point in our lives, right? You can take an old t-shirt you have and turn it into a personalized cape for the little super hero in your life. I made this cape for our Blitsy baby, Miles. It's a little big for him now, but he will grow into it!

With Halloween on the horizon, it's time to whip up this no-sew (easy-on-the-wallet) costume for your little one to wear! Trust me, once Halloween comes as goes, your little super hero will live on FOREVER! I have a feeling this DIY cape will make an appearance MANY more times.

9 Projects to Get You Pumped About Pumpkin Season

When Fall rolls around many people go nuts for anything AND everything pumpkin! My Pinterest feed becomes full of recipes for spiced pumpkin lattes, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin rolls, pumpkin doughnuts, pumpkin pie, and the list goes on-and-on!

This week, Starbuck's brought back their Pumpkin Spiced Latte and, well, the excitement was ALL over my Facebook Feed! I can not bring myself to indulge in anything pumpkin flavored until the temp dips below at least 65! Any temperature above that means it is still Summer and pumpkin anything is not welcome yet. ;)

So, I thought if Starbucks can bring back their Pumpkin Spiced Latte so early in the year, I would put together some DIY pumpkin projects to get everyone pumped about pumpkin crafting season.  It's never too early to start getting your Fall DIY list together. If you are not ready to go 'there' yet  mentally, just pin this for later! Oh, and if you were wondering, Dunkin' Doughnuts also brought back their pumpkin flavored drinks on Sept. 1st.

1. Metallic is so popular. Why not carry the trend through to your pumpkins! Metallic spray painted pumpkin from Sugar and Cream.

2. This DIY is as easy as grabbing a Sharpie! Spark and Chemistry shows you how to decorate your pumpkins with a just a marker!

3. I have seen nail art on wood before, but on a pumpkin? Yep! Lovely Indeed branches out and adds nail art to her pumpkin!

4. You can make your pumpkins look super girlie by decoupaging lace to the them. You can thank Positively Splendid for this oh, so lovely DIY!

5. Use your pumpkins to send a spooky message to your guests. The House That Lars Built created these Succulent Worded Pumpkins and spelled out the word 'Boo'!

6. Adding jewels to your pumpkin instantly makes them glam! Gina Michelle painted her pumpkins white and then topped them with different colored jewels. So pretty!

7. Doilies make an appearance in the DIY from Alyson Baker Design. Cover your pumpkins in doilies to avoid the hassle (and mess!) of cutting into them! They also give your pumpkins a little vintage charm.

8. Instead of carving a Jack-O-Lantern into your pumpkin, add your own mug to your pumpkin! These Silhouette Pumpkins from See Vanessa Craft are an awesome alternative to pumpkin decorating!

9. This DIY involves carving your pumpkin, but when you are finished you get to fill it with candle wax in your choice of scent (perhaps cinnamon or spice?). Ahh...the ultimate Fall project! Carved Pumpkin Candle from She Knows.
