Kid's Craft #2: DIY Yarn & Clothespin People

Today's Kid's Craft involves yarn, clothespins, and imagination! There are so many uses for clothespins like hanging your clothes (duh!), using them to store ribbons, and making yarn people. Well, the last one may not be a known use for clothespins, but it's way more fun than the others!

Your kids will love dressing up their clothespin people in pants, shirts, and even a tutu! Grab some yarn at and make some clothespin people with your kids! Trust me, you will enjoy it as much as they will!

Here's what you'll need:
- Yarn. LOTS of Yarn in different colors
- Clothespins
- Pom Poms
- Eyes
- Glue
- Scissors

Let's get crafty!

Step 1: Glue two eyes to the center of a pom pom. Then, glue the pom pom to the top of a clothespin.

Step 2: Take your yarn and tie a knot at the top of your clothespin. Begin wrapping the yarn around the clothespin, creating a "shirt". When your shirt is long enough, tie a knot in back and snip the extra yarn.

Step 3: To create pants, grab different colored yarn. Tie a knot in the back of the clothespin. Start wrapping the yarn around your clothespin, then work your way down one "leg". Once at the bottom of the leg, work your way back up.

Step 4: Work your way down your other leg, then back up. When you are finished, tie a knot in the back and trim the extra yarn. You are finished!

Create different "outfits" with different colored yarn and different thickness of yarn. Below I created a girl clothespin person wearing a scarf, shirt, and a skirt!

  1. Adorable! Thanks so much for sharing =O)

  2. Cute! You could also add a piece of a pipe cleaner while wrapping the yarn around the clothespin to create arms. :-)

  3. so much personality... this little clothespins! :-)
